Privacy Policy

Last updated: 28 June 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how Gezin (“Gezin”, “we”, “us”) collects, uses, shares, and protects your information when you use the Gezin family-organizer app, website, and related services (the “Service”). By using the Service you agree to the practices described here. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

Who we are

Gezin is a family-organizer app — a shared calendar, tasks, meal planning, recipes, shopping lists, and an AI assistant scoped to a household (“family”) you and your members belong to. Gezin is operated by Emre, an independent developer, who is the controller of the personal data processed through the Service. For any privacy question or request, contact us at privacy@getgezin.com.

Information we collect

We collect only what we need to run the Service.

Information you provide

  • Account information. When you sign up with email and password, or with Google sign-in, we receive your email address and basic profile details (such as your name). Authentication is handled by our provider, Supabase; we do not store your raw password.
  • Family content you create. The events, tasks, meals, recipes, shopping lists, and family/member details you and your family add to the Service, together with associated metadata (such as when an item was created or edited).
  • Content you submit to the AI. If you choose to share a photo, a link, a forwarded email, or text for the AI assistant to turn into events, tasks, meals, or lists, we process that content to generate suggestions. You decide what to submit and you review suggestions before anything is saved.
  • Communications. Messages you send us by email or through support, and your preferences for receiving communications.

Information about people you invite

If you invite someone to your family or add details about a family member (including a child), we process that information to provide the Service to your household. Only add details about other people if you are entitled to do so.

Connected services

  • Google Calendar data. If you choose to connect a Google Calendar, we access and sync calendar events to keep your family calendar in sync. We access only your calendar data for this purpose — not your email. Access tokens are stored encrypted and can be revoked at any time by disconnecting the calendar.

Information we collect automatically

  • Device and log data. Basic technical information needed to operate and secure the Service, such as device type, app version, IP address, and event/error logs.
  • Usage data. How you interact with the Service (such as which screens are used), collected through analytics as described in Cookies and analytics.
  • Push tokens. If you enable push notifications, we store a device token so we can send reminders.

How we use your information

  • To provide, maintain, and improve the Service and its features.
  • To sync your calendar and share family content among your family members.
  • To generate AI suggestions from content you choose to submit.
  • To send notifications and reminders you have enabled, and to send you service messages (such as account, security, and invitation emails).
  • To understand how the Service is used so we can fix problems and prioritize improvements.
  • To secure the Service, prevent abuse and fraud, and comply with legal obligations.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for advertising or interest-based ad targeting.

Legal bases for processing (EEA/UK)

If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, we process your personal data on the following legal bases:

  • Performance of a contract — to provide the Service you sign up for.
  • Legitimate interests — to secure, operate, and improve the Service, where not overridden by your rights.
  • Consent — for optional features such as connecting Google Calendar, enabling push notifications, or submitting content to the AI. You can withdraw consent at any time.
  • Legal obligation — where we are required to process data to comply with the law.

AI processing

When you choose to submit content to the AI assistant, that content is sent to our AI providers to produce a result:

  • Anthropic (Claude) — powers the AI assistant.
  • Google (Gemini) — used to turn pasted text, links, and forwarded emails into structured suggestions.
  • ScrapeCreators — when you import a social link (for example, a recipe video), this provider retrieves the public caption or transcript of that link so the AI can read it.

We send only the content needed for the request. AI suggestions can be inaccurate or incomplete, and you review and approve them before anything is saved. We do not use your submitted content for advertising. Each provider processes data under its own terms — see Anthropic and Google.

Sharing within your family

Gezin is collaborative by design: content you add to a family (events, tasks, meals, lists, recipes, and member details) is visible to the other members of that family. Only share content you are comfortable with your family seeing.

Service providers we use

We rely on a small number of trusted providers to operate the Service. They process data on our behalf, only for the purposes we direct, and are bound by confidentiality and data-protection obligations:

  • Supabase — authentication, database, and storage.
  • Google — Google sign-in, Google Calendar sync (only when you connect it), and Gemini AI processing.
  • Anthropic — AI processing of content you submit to the assistant.
  • ScrapeCreators — retrieving public captions/transcripts for social links you choose to import.
  • Cloudflare — website and app hosting, delivery, and inbound email routing.
  • Resend — transactional email (such as account and invitation emails).
  • PostHog — privacy-friendly product and website analytics.

We may also disclose information where we believe in good faith it is necessary to comply with the law or a lawful request, to enforce our terms, to prevent fraud or harm, or in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets (in which case we will require the recipient to honor this Privacy Policy).

Cookies and analytics

We use a small amount of cookies and similar technologies to run the Service and to understand how it is used.

  • Essential. Cookies and local storage that keep you signed in and remember your preferences. The Service does not work properly without these.
  • Analytics. We use PostHog to measure how the website and app are used — for example, which features are opened — so we can improve them. PostHog stores a cookie/identifier on your device for this purpose. We use this data in aggregate and do not use it for advertising.

Most browsers let you block or delete cookies in their settings, though some features may not work if you do. Some browsers can send a “Do Not Track” signal; because there is no common standard for these signals, the Service does not currently respond to them.

International data transfers

Our providers may store and process data on servers outside your country, including in the United States and the European Union. Where data is transferred across borders, we rely on appropriate safeguards (such as the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses) where required by law. By using the Service, you understand that your information may be processed in these locations.

Data retention

We keep your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service. When you delete your account, we delete or anonymize your personal data within a reasonable period, except where we are required to retain it by law or to resolve disputes and enforce our agreements.

Your rights and choices

You can:

  • Access, correct, or update your information from within the app.
  • Disconnect Google Calendar at any time, which revokes our access to it.
  • Disable notifications from your device settings.
  • Request deletion of your account and associated personal data by contacting us at privacy@getgezin.com.

Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights:

  • EEA/UK (GDPR). Rights to access, rectify, erase, restrict or object to processing, and data portability, and the right to withdraw consent. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
  • California (CCPA/CPRA). Rights to know what personal information we collect and how it is used and shared, to access and delete it, to correct it, and to limit the use of sensitive personal information — without discrimination for exercising these rights. We do not sell or “share” personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising.

To exercise any right, contact us at privacy@getgezin.com. We may need to verify your identity before acting on a request.

Communications and marketing

We send service messages (such as account, security, and invitation emails) that are necessary to operate the Service; you cannot opt out of these while you have an account. If we ever send optional marketing emails, you can opt out using the unsubscribe link in the message or by contacting us — opting out of marketing will not affect service messages.

Children’s privacy

Gezin is intended to be set up and managed by adults for their household, and is not directed to children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your country). We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children for our own purposes. A family organizer may include information about children that the managing adult chooses to add; that adult is responsible for the content they enter. If you believe a child has provided us information directly without appropriate consent, contact us and we will take appropriate steps to delete it.

Security

We use industry-standard measures to protect your information, including encryption in transit and encryption of sensitive tokens at rest, and access controls that limit who can reach your data. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date above and, where appropriate, notify you in the app. Your continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
